Sacred Land of Blood and Gold: Exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota, Part 1. Travel VLOG
Filmed in September 2020! Lake Missoula videos coming soon. :) After a few days in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, my journey took me south to the Black Hills, an incredibly beautiful mountain range in Southwestern South Dakota and Northeastern Wyoming. The Black Hills, like many places in the west, has a complicated history. Sacred land to the Lakota and Cheyenne peoples that by treaty were reserved for them, the discovery of gold in the mountains brought thousands of fortune seeking European Americans into their lands, which triggered the Great Sioux War of 1876. Hi everyone! :) My name is Tor Bertin, and for much of my life, I've had an immense fascination for the natural world and its inhabitants. This fascination has always driven me to share those feelings of wonder with other people. "Wonderlust" was the name I gave to that feeling. Here, I hope to bring to you improved understanding and appreciation for nature in its many forms across the world, and the human history that has existed in those places. I film my travels in a highly cinematic style, and with corresponding narration aim to both educate on the history of these places and inspire wonder for the astonishing aspects of the natural world. While here, and in your own journeys, wander in wonder.
