We Found BEAUTIFUL Agate and Chalcedony Inside Prehistoric Fossil Coral Geodes!

In this video, I teamed up with my friends Derek and Ashley to go on the hunt for gorgeous Fossil Coral Geodes! The river we are hunting on flows through an area of Georgia that was once under a shallow saltwater sea, teeming with life. The river has cut away the top layers of the land and exposed the ancient coral reefs. It's wild to think about how the area we are looking used to literally be underwater with sharks and tropical fish swimming around, and of course many species of coral. As these reefs were buried under sediment the fossilization process began and groundwater began to percolate down through the earth and into the fossil coral heads. The minerals in the water replaced the coral with silica and thus created the beautiful agate and crystals we find on the inside!
