Found Only in Florida | Rare Calcite Crystals Formed Inside Fossil Clam Shells!

With no shortage of sandy beaches and flat swampland, Florida is not typically known for interesting Geology. But one only needs to be willing to dig a little deeper to see just how unique Florida's Geology can be! One thing very unique about Florida Geology is the fact that you can find fossil shells that fill with beautiful honey-colored calcite crystals over time! This happens long after these shells are fossilized and ground water percolates down and through the shells carrying the calcium carbonate with it that forms the calcite crystals. This makes for a very interesting fossil/gem/mineral all in one!
