Florida is Not Known for Crystals... THIS is Why it Should Be!

When someone thinks Florida, they don't typically think of interesting rocks or geology. Lots of sand, ocean, and Disney Land crosses a lot of minds. But the reality is that Florida has a unique and exciting geologic history, and we can find the evidence of that if we know where to look! Florida's crystals are unique because they're usually also part of a fossil. In this video, we're finding fossil clams that have been filled with incredible calcite crystals. This happens when groundwater percolates through the ancient clam shells and the minerals that seeped in form the crystals over time. This yields some incredible crystal landscapes that formed in voids in these fossil clams. Hope y'all enjoy the video, thank you for watching!
