We Found Beautiful Druzy Quartz Crystals on a Dirt Road in Florida!
Y'all are probably already seeing that I LOVE to explore dirt roads for fossils and other cool treasures. In this specific location the road fill is limestone that must be from a limestone mine nearby. In these mines they often dig into a material called "chert" which is basically silicified limestone. The chert has cracks, holes, and voids where over-time, beautiful little druzy quartz crystal points can form. Crystals are not normally what you think of when you hear about Florida, but Florida definitely has some really cool crystals to be found, if you know where to look!
