Michigan has some OLD fossils! Much older than anything I ever find in Florida, these Devonian aged fossils from Michigan are around 360 Million Years Old! Life that old on the planet is bound to be strange, and I ended up finding my strangest find yet! It made my friend Rob a little bit jealous! Enjoy!

It feels good to get back into Michigan! I live in Florida, so the Summertime is terribly hot, humid, and brutal. Michigan this time of year however, was absolutely beautiful!

So I met up with my friend Rob who took me to one of his favorite beaches to go rockhounding! We were picking up anything that was cool, but our main focus was to find Pudding Stones, which are a very interesting type of conglomerate rock, and Petoskey Stones, which are fossil corals that polish extremely well. We ended up having a very successful hunt! Enjoy!

Very few Megalodon tooth hunting days end in massive success. It's often very tough to find big teeth. Of course the smaller teeth are still incredibly special from a scientific standpoint, but of course we all wish to see that huge Megalodon tooth in our screens! The day this video was filmed, my friend Cris and I took some friends out to a small creek to hunt for shark teeth, and we ended up having one of our most successful fossil hunts EVER!

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! Megalodon Shark Tooth Insanity!

Florida has a LOT of fossil shark teeth. One does not need to go far to find a creek or river which yields these ancient ocean sediments from when the entire state was underwater. The prized treasure that a lot of folks look for are teeth from the Megalodon Shark. While these are generally considered "common", big Megalodon teeth are quite hard to come by and it involves a lot of work! Will we find any Megalodon teeth in this video? Watch to see!

Florida Fossil Shark Tooth Hunting | On The Hunt For Megalodon Shark Teeth!

Something special about Florida is the unique assemblage of fossils you can find here! You can be in one small spot and find fossils from marine and land mammals all mixed together. In this specific creek we have found mammoth/mastodon remains, horse fossils, shark teeth, and fossils from the Glyptodont which is like a HUGE armadillo. Florida is not typically known for its gems and minerals, but there is still some pretty awesome stuff to find here!

Beautiful sparkling druzy quartz crystals will grow inside voids in chert and limestone, and calcite crystals form inside of fossil shells! We did a little bit of both in this video to get our rockhounding fix in!

Petrified wood has always been one of my favorite types of fossils to find. It's typically few and far between where I live, but I was lucky to find a river many years ago with a LOT of petrified wood.

I haven't been able to figure out an exact age of this wood, but I believe the main types of wood we're finding are cypress, pine, oak, and palm. The climate would have been subtropical, similar to today for my area. We also find fossil shark teeth in this river so my best guess is that the petrified wood might be around the same age. The teeth are middle-miocene which would be around 12-14 million years old.

We found a lot of nice specimens in this video, and ended up staying into the night! Enjoy the adventure!

This River is LOADED With Petrified Wood

The title may have you wondering... a fossil coral geode?! Yes, you read correctly. I'll explain.

In this video we're hunting for agatized coral geodes on a small river in Georgia. This area of Georgia used to be a shallow sea full of life around 20 million years ago. The river has eroded away layers of the earth to reveal these ancient ocean sediments. Ancient coral reefs are exposed periodically on this river, which is where we find the fossil coral. During fossilization, these corals were replaced with a mineral called chalcedony and have become "agatized". Sometimes they become hollow and form voids full of beautiful botryoidal (bubbly) agate and druzy quartz crystals.

We found some beautiful geodes during this hunt and then cut them open to reveal the inner beauty. Enjoy!

In this video my friend Cris and I took a last minute trip to a small creek to look for Megalodon Shark teeth. We didn't have a lot of time to look, but that doesn't always mean it will be an unsuccessful hunt! We worked hard and ended up finding some incredible fossils. The fun part of the day was that I kept finding everything, and my poor friend Cris had to keep watching. Enjoy the video!

I Kept Finding EVERY Megalodon Shark Tooth!

This video is now a few years old, but I'm beyond excited to share it with you all. My friend Cris and I took our friends and their family out to a small creek to hunt for fossil shark teeth. Of course, our hope is that we will come across teeth from the Megalodon Shark, but that isn't always the case.

Megalodon Shark tooth hunting looks easy if you have only seen videos of it online. But the actual process of it is typically strenuous and time consuming. You might move TONS of gravel without finding a single Megalodon Shark tooth.

Luckily, that was not the case on this day. We very quickly found Megalodon teeth, and some very nice ones at that!

The Most INSANE Megalodon Shark Tooth Hunt!

Imagine being over 100 miles away from the present-day coastline and finding fossil shark teeth! That's what we're doing in this video, in an inland creek. This area of Florida was underwater around 30 million years ago! The bottom of the creek has exposed a clay sediment, which is the ancient ocean floor. This clay holds some extremely well preserved fossil shark teeth. The clay was the perfect place for preservation. The teeth here have some incredibly beautiful colors. We find some species that are rare to Florida, such as the Sand Tiger Shark and Angustidens - The ancestor to the Megalodon!

We Found RARE 30 Million Year Old Shark Teeth Over 100 Miles Away From The Ocean!

In this video we're exploring a small creek that leads to the location of an old railroad track site, along with an old building that appears to have been a school at one time! It may have even been a train depot or house at some point, but it's hard to say for certain. Based on the style of the building, it looks to have been build around the late 1800's - early 1900's sometime. There were all sorts of cool and interesting things to look at both in the creek and in the old building. When I was here previously I found a great antique soda bottle from 1907 that I showed some images of. Enjoy the video!

Exploring Creek & Historic Abandoned Building Yields 100 Year Old Treasure!

This was part of Derek and I's recent trip to North Carolina! We took a drive to the Ray Mica Mine to search for some beautiful Aquamarine, Beryl, and Kyanite Crystals. To find the Kyanite we had to hike all the way to the top of the mountain, which was a couple thousand feet incline in elevation, putting us to around 4,000 feet in elevation I believe!

This video was filmed a long while back, but I remember being blown away by the colors of these fossil shark teeth!

The color of a fossil shark tooth has nothing to do with the age of the fossil, or the type of shark. It all depends on what types of minerals replace the tooth during fossilization, and what type of sediment the tooth is found in. These teeth specifically are eroding out of clay that ranges in color from white to blue to orange and gray. This causes a very nice variety of some unique colors for fossil shark teeth!

In this video I was scuba diving in a Florida river with my friend Rick, when we came across something totally unexpected!

Associated fossil remains tend to be rare in Florida because of the way the rivers and creeks have moved over time, but in this spot we must have discovered an old sinkhole where a LOT of alligators spent their time and died, because we literally found an alligator graveyard with TONS of fossil alligator bones.

They are beautiful little fossils, and you can find them all over certain beaches in Michigan, along with all kinds of other cool marine fossils!

Sadly around one hundred years ago, River banks were used as dump sites since there were no proper ways to dispose of trash at that time. Unfortunately, there's still tons of modern trash too. But, with the older "trash" we do get the experience of finding some cool pieces of history while out exploring and cleaning up.
