Maine Maple Tree Tapping for Sap
Maine Maple Tree Tapping for Sap This video was done in the spring of 2021. Scott wanted to go through the process and make our own maple syrup. So we bought a cookstove from a local guy that puts them together from a kit. Along with ten buckets, lids, spiles, and got started. This video shows the beginning process of putting in the spiles, hanging the buckets, and waiting for them to fill. We checked them every day and emptied the ones that had any sap in them. Once we had enough to boil down, usually a couple of 5-gallon buckets, we would cook it down on the cookstove. If anyone is thinking of doing this process, I say go for it! Collecting, boiling, and bottling sap was a great experience, and being outside in the fresh air makes you sleep like a baby. Thanks for watching!
