Over A Dozen Arrested In Connection With East LA Nike Store Robbery Crime Spree

At least a dozen people have been arrested after authorities conducted a surveillance operation at a well-known Nike community store in East Los Angeles.

On June 2nd & 3rd, Detectives with LASD Major Crimes Bureau Metro Detail/Burglary & Robbery Task Force (BRTF) decided to do a surveillance operation at anike store, which experienced losses exceeding over $750,000 during the past year.

During the operation, authorities were able to arrest 12 suspects, 9 of which were felonies.

An organized retail theft crew was identified and arrested. A total of $2,669 worth of merchandise was recovered and returned to the nike store.

BRTF along with LASD East LA Deputies conducted a follow-up in particular to one of the theft incidents and was able to recover an assault rifle from a residence.

During the course of the operation, East LA special problems teams along with the Summer Enforcement Team Deputies assisted with the recovery of two stolen vehicles, one of them which was involved in an armed carjacking.

All of the people who were arrested identities were not released and is being withheld pending further investigation.

For those who don't know, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department MCB BRTF was formed over 10-years ago to combat the ever increasing trend of organized crews who are committing residential burglaries along with violent robbery crime trends.
