Gretchen Whitney High School Deemed Safe After False Bomb Threat

Deputies are continuing their investigation at a high school in the City of Cerritos after receiving bombs threats Thursday afternoon.

It was started when LASD Cerritos Deputies originally responded to reports of a person armed with a gun on the campus of Gretchen Whitney High School on the 16800 blk of Shoemaker Ave just after 1pm.

Additional reports from school staff stated there was a possible bomb threat on the campus.

Numerous deputies and neighboring agencies responded to the school and placed it on lockdown.

Soon, staff were evacuated as well as students who reunited with their parents as authorities continued their investigation on the campus.

Specialized units and Bomb Squad specialist from LASD responded to assist.

Whitney High School went through a full sweep and it was determined there was no immediate threat to civilian's and the immediate area.

No injuries were reported. No arrest have been made. No weapons were found.

Deputies are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the LASD Cerritos Station.

No other information is available at this time.

The school themselves or the district have not released any statements about the incident.
