A home invasion suspect is in critical condition after being shot by a 80-year old homeowner in Chicago Monday morning.
Chicago PD responded to reports of a man and woman who invaded a home on the 8500 blk of West Catherine Ave and stole items.
When officer's arrived they found the 80-year old homeowner unconscious from being battered. Both suspects fled prior to officer's arrival.
It all started when a man and woman knocked on the homeowners door, then entered without permission.
The homeowner then made himself known as well as got into a physical struggle with the male suspect. Thats when the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot at the male suspect in his chest.
Both suspect fled and took themselves to a hospital, where the woman left after dropping off the suspect in critical condition.
The woman suspect was not injured at all during confrontation.
The homeowner was transported to the same hospital as the suspect, he is also said to be in critical condition after being battered.
The woman suspect who fled after dropping the male suspect off at a hospital in a tan honda SUV, Was later spotted and arrested.
Investigating officers did confirm the homeowner does have a license for his gun.
Both suspect are now in custody and have charges that are pending. No other injuries were reported.
