An investigation is currently underway after an officer-involved shooting left a man in a wheelchair dead in Huntington Park Wednesday afternoon.
Huntington Park PD responded to reports of a stabbing on the 2400 blk of Slauson Ave around 3:40pm.
When officer's arrived, they were approach by the stabbing victim who gave the description of the suspect as well as his fleeing direction.
The stabbing victim was treated and taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Description of the suspect that the victim gave was a male, black and is in a wheelchair.
Officer's checked the immediate area of the last travel direction and the suspect was shortly found by officer's.
When officer's attempted to detain the suspect, the suspect retrieved a 12' butcher knife from his waistband and had threatened to throw it at Officers.
By that time officer's decided to try to tase the suspect twice but was ineffective.
The suspect proceeded to attempt to throw the knife at officers again, which at that time an officer-involved occured.
A bullet struck the suspect at least one time in the upper torso. LACoFD quickly responded to render aid but unfortunately the suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Officer's were able to recover the suspects weapon at the scene to use for evidence.
LASD Homicide detectives are assisting Huntington Park PD with this investigation. No other information is available at this time.
