Bank knocked over by thief in Gucci COVID mask

What is most interesting in this story is what his mask looked like.

Moriarty, New Mexico is a town of just over 2200 and change people. It sits about 40 minutes east of Albuquerque on Route 66/Interstate 40.

Moriarty would be rocked by a crime most residents of the sleepy town in New Mexico. They wouldn’t hear about it, however, until the crime was long over with, and the perpetrator is long gone.

That Thursday afternoon, a man walked into the Wells Fargo and handed the teller a threatening note and claiming he had a gun. The bank complied and the man left with the cash.

The FBI describes the robber as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, 5’6” to 5’9”, and about 165 pounds. He was wearing a baseball cap with rainbow colors, a long sleeves blue shirt emblazoned with La Mesa RV on the front breast, dark green pants, and the most interesting identifier of all: a COVID facemask bearing the Gucci logo.

The suspect also tattoos up his neck and on his right forearm. You can see pictures of the suspect via surveillance footage below:

It’s truly amazing that the US has not seen a spike in crimes like this during the COVID pandemic. When people wear a mask it becomes less easy to spot suspicious characters and bad actors like this man in New Mexico.

If you know who this person is, investigators are imploring a call from you at the following agencies and telephone numbers: the FBI at 505-889-1300, Moriarty Police Department at 505-832-6060 or the Torrance County Sheriff’s Office at 505-544-4908.
