15 cats were found shot to death Tuesday night in pastoral Dunn County.
Not much happens in rural Dunn County, Wisconsin – population 43 thousand and change.
It’s usually quiet in this pastoral county renowned for its agriculture, wooded areas, and respect for the land.
Perhaps that’s part of the reason finding 15 dead cats – all shot dead and dumped in an out-of-the-way spot Tuesday night near the town of Menomonie, WI – rocked even the Sheriff’s Department to the point that a $3,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest in this tragic and senseless case.
The local Humane Society said that it appeared someone dropped live cats off with a bit of cat food near an area called the Dunnville Bottoms in the SW corner of Springbrook Township. From there, someone shot and killed 15 of the cats and kittens. Read the Humane Society Facebook post here with a blurred photo of the scene.
The Humane Society rescued a further 18 cats from the site. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office here. You can call them at (715) 232-1348 or reach them by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
