Wayne Dover

Detroit, MI – The Art of Transformation, an annual art show by Mariner Inn, will finally be held on July 30, 2021. After being postponed from July 16 due to inclement weather, the exhibit will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beacon Park.

Featuring works by residents and alumni of Mariners Inn, the art show is to celebrate creativity in recovery. Founded in 1925 by the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, Mariners Inn’s mission is to serve those struggling with homelessness and substance abuse through a wide range of social service programs that achieve the best outcomes for anyone affected by addiction.

Mariners Inn dedicates services to helping homeless men to be free of addiction and live independent lives filled with dignity and purpose. Mariners Inn is a nationally acclaimed and licensed full-service treatment facility providing supportive services to Southeast Michigan’s homeless men. With The Art of Transformation, Mariners Inn residents and alumni will showcase their recovery progress through art.

Benefiting the artists and Mariners Inn programs, artwork will be available for purchase. The exhibit was made possible thanks to The DTE Beacon Park Foundation, The Downtown Detroit Partnership, Y Arts Detroit, and The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

This is a free admission event with an RSVP recommended but not required. There will be a food truck and opportunities to meet the artists. To expedite the event, this Covid-19 Safety will be implemented:
