One arrest has been made for the shooting in the parking lot behind the Milk & Honey Café at Dulles Retail Plaza in Sterling.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man was shot and seriously injured Monday around 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday morning, police released a description of the suspect, describing him as a tall, slender Black male who had been wearing camouflage clothing, a scarf, and a black stocking cap.
Richard L. Edmundson, a 35-year-old with no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the case on Thursday and charged with malicious wounding. He was transferred to Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. As of this morning, he is being held without bond, LCSO announced in an update.
Preliminary investigations suggest the victim and suspect knew each other, LCSO also stated.
It appears that police could be gearing up to make more arrests because “LCSO’s investigation has determined that there was more than one individual involved in this incident,” the office stated. And it added that the identification of the “additional individuals” remains under investigation.
LCSO is asking for the public’s assistance, urging anyone with information to contact the lead investigator, Detective M. Grimsley at 703-777-1919 or submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app.
As of this afternoon, the victim, who hasn’t yet been named, was still hospitalized but was in stable condition, LCSO confirmed.
