A 15-year-old male is being held without bond after a shooting Sunday, Manassas City Police Department announced.
Shortly before 4 p.m., MCPD responded to a gunfire call at the 8800 block of Lane Scott Court. When officers arrived on the scene they began canvassing the area and found several shell casings, a statement from the department explains.
After about 20 minutes on the scene, police released an incident notice stating there was a heavy police presence working the scene but no injuries were found at that time.
At 7:22 p.m., MCPD offered an update stating that their presence had shifted to the 9500 block of Tudor Oaks Lane, and they confirmed that there was a victim of gunfire.
In a statement, MCPD later announced they found a 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with what “appeared to be non-life threatening” injuries.”
Meanwhile, the investigation led MCPD to a 15-year-old suspect who was arrested without incident, police reported. Officers executed a search warrant on a residence where they collected evidence and a firearm, the statement added
The 15-year-old is being held at the Prince William Juvenile Detention Center. According to MCPD, he was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, underage possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
