Drivers warned: traffic stops, delay on I-66 in Rossyln

Late night I-66 drivers in Rossyln take note, VDOT has announced there will be intermittent traffic stoppages with each stop lasting up to 20 minutes.

These traffic stoppages will be conducted overnight tonight running from midnight on Saturday the 16th until 4 a.m. The stoppages will occur on the eastbound side at mile marker 74.3 located between North Scott Street and North Nash Street.

Weather permitting, there will be another round of traffic stoppages on Tuesday night, for east and westbound traffic at mile marker 74.8, which is located between North Lynn Street and Route 110). These are scheduled to start at midnight on August 20 and also run until 4 a.m.

According to VDOT, these traffic stoppages are needed to install new overhead sign structures.

If traveling on I-66 during this work, VDOT advises you to expect delays. The department further advises drivers to use alternate routes if possible.
