Drivers who plan to travel on I-95 North in the Fredericksburg area at night need to be prepared for delays later this week, VDOT forewarned.
Starting at midnight on Thursday, June 8, crews will be conducting full traffic stops that will completely shut down the flow of movement. Each stoppage will last up to 30 minutes.
This will occur in Stafford County at Exit 133, aka Rt. 17, and Exit 136, aka Centreport Parkway.
These traffic stops are also scheduled overnight on Friday, June 9.
Drivers should prepare for the possibility of delays before the overnight stops begin because, as part of this effort, there will be lane closures that start earlier on the nights of the traffic stops.
The schedule for this work is as follows:
- 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
- Midnight – 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes
- 4:30 a.m. – All I-95 northbound lanes open
This 2-night traffic effort is to accommodate work on the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Remember, if you want need to get an idea of what the conditions are ahead of time, you can call 511 or use the Virginia 511 app or website.
