Now, a former Chesapeake deputy, Larry Ronald Wall resigned from the force after being arrested over Memorial Day weekend.

The 66-year-old’s arrest came after police were called to a residence on Kentucky Trail in Chesapeake on Saturday, May 27, for a DUI.

As a result of that response, Wall was charged with a count of driving while intoxicated, 1st offense, which is a misdemeanor. He is currently set to be arraigned on that charge on June 12.

Wall was also charged with child abuse, disregard for life, a Class 6 felony, as he was reportedly driving with a child in the car while he was intoxicated. Wall is currently scheduled to be arraigned on that charge on June 22.

Wall was booked at Western Tidewater Regional Jail and was released on a $2,000 bond, according to WTKR News 3.

Chesapeake police are investigating the incident, and at first, Wall was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. But he later resigned, ending a 14-year run with Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office.

No details have been provided about whose residence police responded to for this event or the relation between Wall and the juvenile passenger.
