The St. Mary County Sheriff Office in Maryland announced that a 15-year-old murder suspect from Lexington Park, MD was caught in King George last Friday.
The unnamed teenager is accused of shooting and killing 26-year-old Marcus Anthony Day of Leonardtown on April 4.
St. Mary’s police were dispatched to the Great Mills Sheetz on April 4 shortly after 10:30 p.m. to respond to shots fired. But according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived, they didn’t find a victim.
Shortly afterward, police were called to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown because a person came in with multiple gunshot wounds. This turned out to be Day. He was pronounced dead.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division pursued the investigation, and last week, it was announced that a juvenile suspect was caught in Virginia with the cooperation and assistance of King George County Sheriff’s Office.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said that in light a recent change in Maryland law, the suspect will not be identified and no booking photo will be released until a waiver hearing is conducted to determine the jurisdiction of this case.
The juvenile will be charged as an adult. The charges include 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
