2 road closures coming in Caroline for rail work

Next week, there will be two road closures are scheduled over a course of four days in Caroline to allow for CSX maintenance work. The company will be installing new timber to improve the experience for those crossing tracks on the roadway.

Colemans Mill Rd. closure

Therefore, on March 20 and 21, Colemans Mill Road will be closed to through traffic at the railroad crossing located between Rogers Clark Boulevard ( Route 207) and Dry Bridge Road, (Rt. 656).

VDOT said the department will post detour signs but hasn’t disclosed the detour route at this time.

Penola Rd. closure

Penola Rd. will be closed on March 22 and 23 to through traffic at the railroad crossing between Rogers Clark Boulevard (Route 207) and Richmond Turnpike (Route 2/Route 301).

The recommended detour during the closure will be:

  • Route 654 (Moore's Mill Road)
  • Route 655 (McBryant Road)
  • Route 656/Route 684 (Dry Bridge Road)
  • Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard)

VDOT said there will be signs posted to guide drivers throughout the detour.

If weather impacts progress, Friday, March 24 has been set as an additional work day.
