Students interested in studying agricultural fields during post-secondary education, take note. The Northern Neck Vegetable Growers Association is offering $10,000 in scholarships.
NNVGA is offering a $4000 scholarship, a $3,000 scholarship and three scholarships for $1,000 each.
Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution. Two-year institutions can include community colleges and technical schools. Two of the $1,000 awards are specifically intended for students in 2-year programs. And the awards are limited to those pursuing undergraduate work.
Applications must be between the ages of 18 and 24 and must at least be graduating seniors in high school.
Applications are also limited to those who live in one of the following localities:
· Caroline
· City of Fredericksburg
· Essex
· Hanover
· Gloucester
· King George
· King and Queen
· King William
· Lancaster
· Mathews,
· Middlesex
· Northumberland
· Richmond County
· Stafford
· Spotsylvania
· Westmoreland.
In addition to residency, NNVGA said consideration will be given to activities and accomplishments in academics, leadership, community service, community involvement, work ethics, athletics and extra-curricular activities.
The deadline for applications is May 19, 2023, at 5 p.m. To qualify, applications must be physically in the office by the deadline. Electronic transmissions are not accepted.
