I was so excited to get out of the house this past weekend and enjoy a quick getaway at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA. The resort is almost perfectly made for a pandemic, it is isolated but full of amenities (golf, spa, gym, pool, lazy river), and their condos are like mini pods.

It is absolutely clean, great amenities, it is secluded, it is quiet, it is secure, and it is simply a great place to get out of town.
Williamsburg, Virginia, is maybe two and a half hours south of Washington DC. You can leave after work and you will be there by 7:30 pm or so, just in time for dinner. When you get to Kingsmill Resort, you are going to turn into a secure gated community. There is a lot of golf courses sprinkled around the area.
Kingsmill Resort was built because of the Anheuser-Busch company. They built this resort as a vacation meetup for their executive leadership. So this beautiful resort is very exclusive.
I stayed in a one-bedroom condo that looked over the water. There is a fireplace, there is a great gym that has an Olympic-sized pool in it. This is a resort that is almost set up for social distancing. Navigating through the pandemic, you are in a safe space, you are in a place where you can relax and you are in your own area, in your own kind of "pod."
There are a lot of things to do in Williamsburg, Virginia. There is of course Colonial Williamsburg. This is the cradle of America. This is where concepts of the United States began. Down the road is historic Jamestown, and just maybe another 10-minute drive is Yorktown, another area that has just so much history there.
Colonial Williamsburg is a historically preserved area. I think in the 1920s they decided to restore the area to replicate the 1700s. People on staff live as they would back-then, and re-enact historical moments.
There are also Busch Gardens - roller coasters and all that kind of good stuff.
There are a lot of great restaurants too. I used Google Maps to find highly rated restaurants and found one that I really liked. An Italian focus restaurant, Giuseppe's, adhered to the social distancing, sanitary measures, and I felt safe and I felt like everything was taken care of.
Again, staying at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA is just a great getaway and I highly recommend it.
