I can't say that Florida comes to mind when you think of the best vegan food in the United States. That was until we went to C4 Eats in Hollywood, Florida. We thought we were sacrificing taste for convenience on our drive from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Miami, but we were happily mistaken.
C4 Eats is a small restaurant but what it lacks in size is made up with trendy decor and an up-and-coming location. Its located on a quiet street but is surrounded by plenty of other restaurants and shops.
Now let's get to the good stuff! We went during brunch and there was no shortage of yummy vegan options. Some dishes you can expect for breakfast are pancakes, shrimp & grits, and other dishes with some sort of variation of eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes.
We decided to get chicken and waffles and exploding fries. We have had chicken and waffles in California and in Oregon, but this was easily the best we have ever had. The waffles were nice and sweet and almost had a pumpkin flavor or seasonal flavor. The chicken was perfectly greasy with great seasoning in actual batter. Vegan fried chicken is tricky and I feel like it's hard to match the texture, but C4 eats has it down. You can tell they put a lot of hard work into making their food delicious.
This restaurant also makes its own juice! We didn't have a chance to try any but they looked delicious: like a perfect drink for cooling down on a hot day. They also have desserts that look mouth-watering, but it was a little too early for us to eat chocolate cake when we went.
We really enjoyed this restaurant and would absolutely add it to our itinerary if we ever happen to be in Florida again. The food was incredible and was my favorite meal during our weekend in Florida.
