Entering the Spiritual World Through The Gate at This Japanese Garden

In Japanese culture, passing through Shinto Shrine gate symbolizes leaving the secular world and entering the sacred/spiritual world. This is the feeling I got when entering through the "Antique Gate" at Portland's Japanese Garden - it really does feel like you're entering another world!
