Best Hikes in Santa Fe | Cross of the Martyrs

New Mexico is a beautiful state with mountains in a desert-like landscape. Interestingly enough, one of the most interesting hikes isn't in the wilderness but nestled in Santa Fe. The "Cross of the Martyrs" is a massive cross located on top of a hill just minutes from downtown Santa Fe. The hike itself is a winding path with historical plaques along the way. These plaques share information about the formation of Santa Fe and the blending of various cultures (Native American, Spanish, and Anglo) that lead Santa Fe to be such a distinctly unique part of the country.
