With summer vacation just a few days away, it’s hard to believe that in a few weeks, children will be bouncing off the walls at home and driving their parents crazy.
The end of the school year always marks a moment of intense excitement and celebration, but soon the reality sets in that without an organized schedule, some kids don’t know what to do with themselves.
Fortunately, there are various opportunities for affordable sports camps that allow students to develop valuable skills and which will also give parents a much needed few hours of peace and quiet.
Chippewa Falls High School Volleyball Coach Luke Heidtke has scheduled a variety of youth volleyball camps. These camps are a terrific way for your children to meet new friends as well as get to know the coaching staff of a major sport.
Most experts agree that there are few things better for young people than participation in school sponsored sporting events. Sports represent a dedication to lifelong goals of fitness and health. Through sports children can learn the importance of nutrition, burn off extra energy, develop physically, expand their social circle, and improve their self confidence.
School sports are a safe environment run by vetted professionals and which provide a gateway that can lead to many lucrative opportunities later in life.
Coach Heidtke’s camp is set to run from June 21st to the 23rd. It is split up into three sessions. Session one is for 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls and runs from 8-9AM. Session two is for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls and runs from 10-11:30AM. Session three is for 7th and 8th grade boys and girls and runs from 1-2:30PM.
These camps are unlikely to fill so anyone interested in participating is encouraged to present themselves on the first day of camp. However, preregistration is preferred because that ensures all athletes will receive a t-shirt of the proper size.
The price of this camp is $50.
Volleyball is a lifetime sport that will provide hours of fun at parks, at the beach, and eventually at your child's college campus. Volleyball is a wonderful co-ed sport, and it provides an opportunity to socialize even as you enjoy the benefits of physical activity.
Coach Heidtke will instruct athletes in the proper technique for hitting, serving, passing, and setting. This will include instruction on balance and the proper positioning of hands and feet. Volleyball, as with any sport, requires regular practice in order to perfect a skill set. The earlier athletes learn proper technique, the less time is wasted later in overcoming bad habits.
With the school year still going along at full swing, it’s easy to forget how the household dynamic changes when summer vacation arrives. As our community emerges from the pandemic and looks forward to a summer full of regular activities, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals Youth Volleyball Camp offers a great opportunity to make up for some of the social interaction that was lost in the 20-21 school year.
