The 21 best restaurants in CA you need to try in 2022.

If you’re looking for a new place to eat out, there are plenty of options, but here are our thoughts on some of the best in CA.

Grand Central Market

LA’s answer to New York’s Chelsea Market is a destination for both tourists and locals, who flock here for produce and other products from nearby farmers' markets, or just an excellent lunchtime meal. You can get everything from your breakfast taco fix to a chopped salad (we recommend the Daily Kick), or even just pick up some croissants and chocolate-dipped strawberries on your way out!

Night + Market Song

One of LA’s most hyped Thai restaurants is known for its authentic dishes made with quality ingredients and generous portions. The chicken wings and the crispy rice salad are both must-orders but don’t miss the spicy fish sauce wings and the tom yum Goong soup.

Jitlada Thai Cafe

Another Thai restaurant on our list is Jitlada, which is known for its very authentic southern Thai food, which tends to be spicier than other types of Thai cuisine. You cannot go wrong with any dish here, but on any given night the seafood dishes are especially popular. For those not into spicy food, there are plenty of non-spicy choices like fried pork or spicy eggplant and meat dishes available too.

Superba Snack Bar

A good date night spot, Superba has a lively atmosphere with a great bar and intimate seating. The menu is small but everything we tried was delicious. Start off with the charred broccoli salad, then try their excellent pasta dishes or their famous pizza and don’t miss out on dessert!

This is the place if you’re craving meat — they have perhaps the best steak tartare in town, along with burgers and sandwiches made from locally sourced meat that doesn’t fall short of the massive hype surrounding them.

Son of A Gun

This restaurant is a favourite of ours, and the seafood is consistently fresh. We love to share their oysters and raw clams, then try the lobster roll or fish & chips. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, try the Spanish mackerel or their famous fried chicken sandwich — but make sure to order it with hot sauce on the side!

Craftsman and Wolves

This is one of our favourite steakhouse-style restaurants in Los Angeles, and they have some amazing steaks. They also have a pretty good selection of fish dishes, including sushi if that’s your thing. They have a very nice wine list and bad cocktails too!

No list of the best restaurants in LA is complete without a sushi restaurant, and Sugarfish is a favourite with locals. Order from the menu to get their signature sushi or check out their omakase menu for multiple courses of deliciousness.

Esters Wine Bar

We can always count on Esters for the best dinner party, especially if we’re looking to have something different for dinner without having to think about it too much. This wine bar has a great selection of wines by the glass or bottle and some small plates like roasted cauliflower, cheese boards and charcuterie that are perfect for groups. The bar also has a fun atmosphere with games like beer pong!

If you have a group of people, this is one of the best restaurants in LA to get a few small plates and share them around the table. Their pasta is a must-try, and we also can’t resist trying their famous bone marrow or their okra fries.

Bottega Louie

Another place that is a go-to for a group of friends or family, Bottega Louie has one of the best menus in LA with lots of yummy small plates that you can share, like their crab cakes and mac and cheese.

Born & Raised

This is our favourite place in East Hollywood to get a good burger, even though they have great brunch too! The Meatpacking District spot is famous for its beers and burgers but we really love the atmosphere there (they have live music some nights) as well as the freshness of their ingredients.

This is a seasonal restaurant that is open temporarily in a neighbourhood that isn’t usually packed with restaurants, but it’s definitely worth checking out during the season when they have their specialities — we recommend trying their squash blossoms or squash blossoms and squash blossoms.

Public School

This is one of our favourite restaurants in LA for brunch, with great American dishes and a relaxed atmosphere. Try the fried chicken n’ waffles for an interesting twist on an old classic!

Another Italian spot that has great pasta, this one is a little bit more casual and is known for its pizzas and focaccia bread.

This Mediterranean spot has a fun atmosphere with a nice array of Mediterranean dishes like hummus and falafel to share. They also have good wine, beer and cocktails!

The Griffin

This is one of our favourite spots in Larchmont Village, a neighbourhood that is great to walk around. The menu has a variety of interesting dishes that make it great for sharing, especially the meat & cheese board or their fried chicken sandwich.

Pizzeria Mozza

One of the best pizza spots in LA and a great place for groups, this restaurant is located in the heart of Little Italy and has a fun atmosphere.

E.P. & L.P

This cocktail bar is in an interesting spot and serves creative drinks like spicy gin and tonics and a variety of different mules, like their refreshing cucumber mule.

Water Grill

Every foodie needs a place to take their out-of-town friends for a great high-end meal, and this is one of our favourites for that purpose! Their menu has some fresh seafood dishes as well as some more traditional ones — we love the steak here!

Little Dom’s

Another neighbourhood pizza spot is perfect for grabbing a drink with friends at the bar or taking your family back to basics with a classic Margherita pizza
