-City of Surprise Art Gallery

There are rotating displays of art of the city's art collection and some permanent paintings located in the halls and lobby of Surprise City Hall, 162000 N. In the Civic Center Plaza, as well as in the courtyard area. Visit the gallery during regular business hours, Monday - Friday at 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., excluding holidays, to see paintings and sculptures by local artists.

-The Vista Center for the Arts

They were originally known as the Valley Vista High School Performing Arts Center. The venue for the state-of-the-art performing arts was later renamed The Vista and operated by the Dysart Unified School District. This arts center features a spacious lobby with up to 1,300 plush seats, professional BOSE sound and theatrical lighting. This place is a venue for various arts and cultural events. -West Valley Arts HQ

TEMPE, AZ - Hohokam is derived from the word Hoohoogum (pronounced with the accent on the last syllable). Native Americans in this area call these prehistoric peoples their ancestors by this name. From A.D. 1 to 1450, the people of the Hohokam lived in the valley and southern Arizona. Hohokams were farmers who farmed corn, beans, squash, and agave. Cotton was also grown for textiles. To irrigate their agricultural fields, Hohokam constructed hundreds of miles of canals throughout the valley. Pioneer farmers used some of these canals in historic times after the canals were re-excavated. There was no domesticated livestock among the Hohokam. Hunting included deer, rabbits, and quails. Their canals allowed them to catch fish and shellfish.
