Most Democratic leaders who benefited from FTX's Bankman-Fried have agreed to donate the money he contributed to their campaigns.
The majority of Democratic party officials who profited from FTX's Sam Bankman-Fried's donations to their political campaigns have indicated that they will give the money back to charity.
Two major media houses reportedly reached out to each of the 59 Democratic and Republican candidates who had received individual contributions from Bankman-Fried.
A large number of these candidates were successful in their respective races, and they did report those donations to the Federal Elections Commission in 2021 and 2022.
Twenty-five of those beneficiaries stated that they aim to give the money to a charitable organization, while three others have indicated that they intend to either return the donation or keep it until the federal investigators give them instructions on what to do next.
He contributed a total of $40 million to Democratic candidates and causes, according to Open Secrets.
Along with others associated with FTX, Bankman-Fried was a generous donor to political campaigns on both the Democratic and Republican sides.
He claimed that the donations to Republican leaders were not made public because journalists always get extremely worked-up whenever anyone donates to Republican leaders.
It appears that Bankman-Fried hid these donations by contributing to "dark money" groups, which are organizations that are not required by federal law to disclose the names of their donors and have the ability to spend an unlimited amount of money to influence elections.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a request to political candidates who have received money from Sam Bankman-Fried to return it so that it can be returned to its rightful owners, who were not involved in the scandal.
These comments from Governor Abbott were subliminally directed at top politicians, including President Joe Biden, incoming Democratic rookie Jasmine Crocket, and Texas Democrat leader Beto O'Rourke would have been affected too, had he not issued a statement saying he returned the funds.
The management at FTX has reportedly issued warnings to those who fail to refund those donations that Bankman-Fried made.
