The hacker group called HIVE was dedicated to blackmailing companies, schools, financial institutions, hospitals, and governments. The mode of operation of this company was through the Dark Internet, blocking access to essential systems with encryption and demanding a "ransom" for providing the password with which the company programmers could put their systems back into operation.

This data hijacking practice is known as "ransomware", and since June 2021 the group would have attacked more than 1,500 victims in 80 countries around the world, which would have meant a profit of more than $100 million dollars in payments. for rescues.

This Thursday, the United States Department of Justice announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) managed to dismantle the said group.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the German police, the National High-Tech Crime Unit in the Netherlands, and the Spanish National Police, according to the US Department of Justice.

The FBI reported that they had managed to 'hack' HIVE since June 2022, allowing them access to decryption keys and offering them to victims of this group around the world, which prevented approximately $130 million in losses for these victims.

The FBI has provided over 300 decryption keys to Hive victims who were under attack. In addition, the FBI distributed over 1,000 additional decryption keys to previous Hive victims. -U.S. Department of Justice.

Despite the fact that the FBI finally has "control" of HIVE, the investigations continue, since so far there are no detainees.
