Looking for your next dessert spot to check out? Sweet Glory is one of the new dessert spots that opened in San Francisco during the pandemic and specializes in crepe cakes and Asian-inspired desserts. Located in the Tenderloin neighborhood, you'll find the storefront nestled on Larkin Street. There isn't any parking beside street parking so it can take some time as the area is a bit rough. Sweet Glory has a variety of items ranging from toasts, croissants, kouign-Amann, and crepe cakes. Each item is reasonably priced compared to other shops and is high-quality. Not only are the desserts beautifully and displaced nicely, but they are also actually delicious and worth every bite. There are also a couple of marble tables where you can enjoy your desserts with friends. The staff was also very attentive and answered any questions I had about the different pastries.

Most shops I’ve visited usually only have simple flavors like matcha and chocolate so I am happy to see the variety here. You can choose from unique flavors like balsamic strawberry vanilla, caramel biscoff chocolate, etc for your slice of crepe cake. They even offer the full cake if you are looking to purchase it for a special event. There are also coffee and refreshing drink options like lychee rose cooler, passionfruit mango refresher, drip coffee, cappuccino, and more. The flavors stand out at Sweet Glory as you can find more combinations that are not as common as a general dessert shop. Here, you'll find flavors like salted egg yolk croissant or pandan coconut toast. I plan on coming to Sweet Glory more often to try out their other desserts and look forward to other combinations they come up with.

Oakland Eats: Tastee Steam Kitchen for Sauna Steam Pot

If you are looking for an innovative and interesting dining experience, check out Tastee Steam Kitchen for a sauna steam pot! Located on Harrison Street in Oakland Chinatown, Tastee offers a unique type of cuisine where you can select raw items and the food is inserted into an appliance where it steams the food so you can see it go from raw to steamed and cooked within minutes. This is a different type of cooking since it allows the food to retain flavor and nutrients while also being more tender and soft. It is considered more healthy since there is no preparation for the food besides steaming, so it is better than stir-frying or deep frying. Another part of this is that you can choose a porridge base that sits right under the appliance. There is rice cooking underneath and as you cook the food, all the juices and flavors also go into the porridge and soak it up. They serve the porridge afterward and there are plenty of spices like white pepper and chili oil to add more flavor. On the menu, they provide a marker where you can select the items you would like to steam. Their selection is extensive and you can choose from live seafood, vegetables, beef, chicken, pork, meatballs, and more. Most items are a la carte. If you are not interested in the sauna pot, they also have sushi rolls, seafood boils, mini individual hot pots, all-you-can-eat shabu, and more. There is also a sauce bar where you can mix your sauces filled with garlic, soy sauce, chili oil, cilantro, green onion, and more.
