If you are looking for a super cute Korean cafe, Gäbi Coffee & Bakery is a great spot to check out in Las Vegas located off the strip. My friend and I came on a Friday afternoon after finding this place on Yelp. Don't be surprised when you see the exterior of the cafe since it looks like a large dungeon door - it only adds to the charm of the place and I loved that it was different and unique. The interior is next level since it is decked out in every nook and corner of the shop. I've been to Korea and went to plenty of cute cafes and this is comparable to them! Honestly, I would say whimsical would be the perfect word to describe it. Every corner is decorated with antique couches and chairs. One of my favorites was the chairs that look like a birdcage or the back area where there are stairs to a small book area where people can enjoy or read a book. I've been here twice and my experience has been positive each time and would recommend this place to others.

With lots of pastries and drinks to choose from, we ordered cheeky peach tea, rose lychee cake, and matcha strawberry cake. The items came pretty fast and the presentation is also aesthetically pleasing. I enjoyed the tea and they also gave me a side of honey to make it sweeter. The cakes were complete opposites as the rose lychee was more on the mellow and sweet side whereas the matcha strawberry had a tart flavor to it. The design of the cakes is beautiful and very Instagram-worthy for sure. My friend and I stayed here for about an hour honestly just enjoying our time and eating the desserts! The items were more on the expensive side since you are mostly paying for the aesthetics of this place.

Gabi makes it feel as though you stepped into another dimension with the highly decorated interior and calm ambiance environment with soft music playing throughout the place. The staff was extremely friendly as well! I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a place where the interior is as aesthetic as all their food items! We all know the strip can be tiring and exhausting so this was a nice breath of fresh air to check out and gave me a chance to explore somewhere else as well.

Oakland Eats: Tastee Steam Kitchen for Sauna Steam Pot

If you are looking for an innovative and interesting dining experience, check out Tastee Steam Kitchen for a sauna steam pot! Located on Harrison Street in Oakland Chinatown, Tastee offers a unique type of cuisine where you can select raw items and the food is inserted into an appliance where it steams the food so you can see it go from raw to steamed and cooked within minutes. This is a different type of cooking since it allows the food to retain flavor and nutrients while also being more tender and soft. It is considered more healthy since there is no preparation for the food besides steaming, so it is better than stir-frying or deep frying. Another part of this is that you can choose a porridge base that sits right under the appliance. There is rice cooking underneath and as you cook the food, all the juices and flavors also go into the porridge and soak it up. They serve the porridge afterward and there are plenty of spices like white pepper and chili oil to add more flavor. On the menu, they provide a marker where you can select the items you would like to steam. Their selection is extensive and you can choose from live seafood, vegetables, beef, chicken, pork, meatballs, and more. Most items are a la carte. If you are not interested in the sauna pot, they also have sushi rolls, seafood boils, mini individual hot pots, all-you-can-eat shabu, and more. There is also a sauce bar where you can mix your sauces filled with garlic, soy sauce, chili oil, cilantro, green onion, and more.
