Baylor 3, Louisiana Tech 0
The Bulldogs showed they are not afraid to face anyone. Louisiana Tech headed to Waco to take on Baylor but came back with a shutout. The Bulldogs held tight in the first half but gave up a late first-half goal to Ashley Merrill in the 44th minute. Baylor carried the 1-0 lead into the second half. Baylor added to their lead in the 56th minute with a goal from Jenna Patterson. Tyler Isgrig added another Bear goal in the 65th minute to give the Bears the 3-0 win.
Baylor outshout Louisiana Tech 18-7 and had 11 shots on goal to Louisiana Tech’s 3. Flavie Dube managed to get 2 shots against the Bears. Emma Duguary was in goalkeeper and had 8 saves.
Southern Miss 3, NSU 0
The Lady Demons were in search of their first win of the season but didn’t find it in Hattiesburg as Southern Miss won 3-0. Southern Miss started in the 10th minute with a goal from Adaiara Nakano. Southern Miss maintained the 1-0 lead. Northwestern State's defense held strong until the 80th minute when the Golden Eagles swept an insurance goal by Chloe Taylor. Southern Miss struck one more time in the 90th minute with a shot from Parker Martin.
USM outshout NSU 17-5. Taylor Spitzer gave the Lady Demons 2 shots. Libe Banuelos was the goalkeeper the entire match and had 6 saves.
Friday, September 1
LSUS 13, Wiley College 0 (Men)
The LSUS Pilots unleashed a goal fest against Wiley College Wildcats with a 13-1 win. Jack Thomas scored the first two goals for the Pilots in the 14th and 25th minute. Adam Gonzalez was given the assists on the second goal. Alex Charles added another LSUS goal with the help of Gonzalez in the 43rd minute. LSUS was up 3-0 at halftime at the Swamp. Early in the second half, LSUS struck again with a goal from Branson Gasper with an assist from Kevin Sithole. Guillermo Ferreiro wanted in on the fun and gave LSUS their fifth goal in the 60th minute with another assist from Gonzales and Sithole. Less than three minutes later, Sithole got his opportunity to pop the net. Bernardo Pacheco and Ferreiro were credited with the assist. In the 70th minute, LSUS unleashed two goals. Ferriero scored his second goal as Sithole accumulated his third assist. Just 24 seconds later, Matthew Menegon had an unassisted goal to push the lead to 8-0. Alex Charles added his second goal in the 74th minute. Gonzales got his opportunity for a goal in the 80th minute with Pacheco getting the assist. Pacheco scored two goals within 50 seconds in the 85th minute. Taichi Sakomizu was given the assist on the second goal. Gonzales collected his second goal in the 87th minute to round out the 13-0 win.
LSUS outshot Wiley 42-1. LSUS had 26 shots in the second half and not allowing a single shot by the Wildcats. Pacheco led the Pilots with 8 shots. Jordan Biadaisee was in goal but it was a boring day for him as he only had one shot and none on target and no saves.
Ozarks 8, Centenary 0 (Men)
The kickoff for the Centenary Gents started a little shaky with an 8-0 loss to Ozarks. Ozarks came out roaring in the 2nd minute with a goal from Rasto Rimbo. The Eagles added two goals within two minutes of each other as Bailey Sawyer scored in the 16th minute followed by Erick Garcia in the 18th minute. Kyle Seymour made it 4-0 for Ozarks in the 22nd minute. The Eagles added one more in the half from Armani Obasi and carried a 5-0 lead in to the second half. Just 41 seconds into the second half, Jorensky Augustin scored for the Eagles. Garcia added a second goal of the match in the 50th minute. Ozarks added one more goal for the match in the 69th minute from Chris Rodriguez.
Ozarks' shooting was accurate with 9 shots on goal on 13 shots. Centenary managed to get 7 shots. Michael Smith, Hunter Booth, Nick Valero, Fernando Santos, Christopher Tarr, and Aiden Stokman all got a shot. Sam Brocato started for the Gents as the goalkeeper. Casey Clemo ended the match. Neither goalkeeper had a save.
Grambling 2, Tarleton State 2 (tie)
The Lady Tigers gave up the lead twice and had to settle for a tie against Tarleton State Texans. Grambling took the early lead in the 6th minute with a goal from Beatriz Kretteis. Khori Banks and Karlyn Judge were credited with the assists. Grambling held on in the first half and kept their 1-0 lead. TSU evened the score in the 56th minute with a goal from Rylee Low. Grambling regained the lead in the 63rd minute with a goal shot from Morgan Johnson. Mila Bettinelli brought the Texans back even in the 79th minute. The result was a 2-2 draw in Stephenville, Texas.
TSU outshot Grambling 16-14 and had the 9-7 advantage on shots on goal. Samantha Diaz had the most Tiger shots with 3. Aimee Benton controlled the net for the entire match and had 5 saves
Saturday, September 2
Ozarks 1, Centenary 0 (Women)
Centenary dropped their opening match of the season in a late goal by Ozarks to fall 1-0 in Arkansas. Neither team could score in the first half. Savannah Solloway netted the lone goal in the 78th minute to give the Eagles the win.
Ozarks outshot Centenary 11-2. Lowery Lanin and Cynthia Williams took the 2 shots for the Ladies. Madison Ersoff maintained the goal and had 9 saves.
Sunday, September 3
Hendrix 3, Centenary 0 (Women)
The host team Hendrix took a 3-0 win over Centenary (0-2-0) on Sunday morning. Hendrix scored first in the 32nd minute with a goal from Madison Lampkin. Hendrix took a 1-0 halftime lead. Clara Sullivan added to the Hendrix lead in the 51st minute with an unassisted goal. Sierra added the final goal of the match in the 73rd minute.
Hendrix outshot Centenary 12-5. Aubrey Burkhardt led Centenary with 2 shots. Madison Ersoff stayed in goal the entire match and had 7 saves.
Centenary 1, McMurray 1 (tie) (Men)
The Gents (0-1-1) bounced back and pulled a tie against McMurray at home on Sunday afternoon. McMurray took the first goal in the 21st minute from a penalty shot from Dylan Caudle. The War Hawks took a 1-0 lead into the locker room. Centenary evened the game in the 81st minute with a goal from Ron Masti and an assist from Hayden McConnell. The two teams stayed knotted until the end of regulation.
McMurray slightly outshot Centenary 18 to 14. Dylan Clark, Fernando Santos, and Carter Webb all took 2 shots. Sam Brocato and Casey Clemo split time as goalkeepers. Brocato had 5 saves while Clemo had 2.
Houston 7, Louisiana Tech 1
Louisiana Tech (2-3-1) continued their road trip in Texas as they faced the Houston Lady Cougars. The Bulldogs gave a shocking first goal against Houston in the 7th minute when Lauren Egbuloniu scored her third goal of the season. Tomoyou Kuroyanagi was given the assist. The lead didn’t last long as Sofia Weber even the score just four minutes later for the Lady Cougars. Alexis Fowlkes gave Houston its first match lead just minutes before halftime. Houston had the 2-1 lead at halftime. The second half saw the lead expand to 3-1 as Allie Byrd scored for the Lady Cougars. The match began to unravel for the Bulldogs. Maddie Bowers scored in the 63rd minute and Nadia Kamassah added another Cougar goal less than two minutes later. Houston now had a 5-1 lead. Louisiana Tech dropped to 10 women when Josie Studer was issued a red card. Emma Duguay was replaced as a goalkeeper in the 72nd minute by Laerke Holst. Houston had two more final ten-minute goals by Talia Feigin and Aryanna Jimison.
Houston had a 24-7 shot advantage over the Bulldogs. Flavie Dube, Kalli Matlock, and Lauren Egbuloniu each took 2 shots. Emma Duguay was the goalkeeper for the first 72 minutes and had 5 saves. Laerke Holst finished the match with 2 saves.
Grambling 1, Little Rock 1 (tie)
The Lady Tigers (2-2-3) had their third consecutive tie as they had a 1-1 draw at home against Little Rock Lady Trojans. Little Rock hit the first goal in the 24th minute by Amaya Arias on a penalty kick. Little Rock maintained the 1-0 lead to halftime. Grambling came back in the 58th minute as Alyssa Romero scored her first goal of the season with an assist by Karlyn Judge. Grambling got a scare in the final minutes and dropped to 10 women as Nia Harley gained her second yellow card which resulted in a red. The Lady Tigers held on to the 1-1 tie.
The shots were rare in the matchup as Grambling outshot Little Rock 9-5. Romero was the top shooter with 3 shots. Madison Covey-Taylor and Aimee Benton split time as goalkeepers. Covey-Taylor had 3 saves.
NSU 1, Alabama A & M 0
The Lady Demons finally broke into the win column with a 1-0 win over Alabama A & M at home on Sunday afternoon. Neither team could score in the first half. Taylor Spitzer broke the stalemate in the 66th minute. Northwestern State only needed that goal to capture the win.
NSU (1-4-0) pounded the Lady Bulldogs with 18 shots to only 3. Taylor Spitzer and Sabrina Lopez each had 4 shots for the Lady Demons. Libe Banuelos gained the win and had 2 saves.
