Disney World's controversial Magic Kingdom ride, Splash Mountain, was officially closed for good this week and consequently, it seems as though fans and collectors alike have been buying (or selling) whatever souvenirs they can get their hands on to commemorate the attraction--including water supposedly taken directly from the ride.
"Real Disney Splash Mountain Water 1/22/2023 Last Day AIR TIGHT SEAL," an Ebay listing with over $7,100 in bids is titled.
The listing provided by seller, theflanman95, has the following description:
"This is REAL splash mountain water from the last day the ride was operating. I didn't have a container at the time on my lunch break so I quickly cleaned out my jelly jar I brought with me in my lunch bag and scooped some up. Air tight."
While this listing is by far one of the most popular, there are several other listings ranging in price from $1 to over $15,000 claiming to contain water from the ride.
While it is unclear if the water is genuine or not, it appears that factor does not seem to have much of an effect on bids.
Another Ebay listing "RARE Disney 2023 Splash Mountain Attraction Flume Water (Custom Ziploc)", claiming to benefit the Glide Foundation, has 19 bids and is up to $15,099.
The log flume ride at Orlando's Magic Kingdom Park closed officially on Jan. 23, 2023 and will be later replaced with a "The Princess and the Frog" themed attraction. You can find more details about the attraction's upcoming plans on our previous article here.
