The Smoky Mountains are calling, and they have your weekend cocktail ready! A little sweet, a little shine, and a whole lotta yum! This summertime cocktail will take you straight to the mountains and have you hearing banjos.
A simple, yet brilliant combination of flavored moonshine and lemonade make for a delicious concoction that will put a permanent smile on your face. We first discovered this at Bootlegger's Distillery, the best little moonshine shack in the state of Tennessee. As we have accomplished the feat of visiting all 27 distilleries on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, we are self-proclaimed experts on this subject!
You can use other flavored moonshine in this recipe of course, but if you make it out to East Tennessee, stop by Bootlegger's and pick up a few jars so you always have them on hand! A moonshine distillery in a tiny shack painted orange, nestled along the Little Pigeon River and set against the backdrop of the Smoky Mountains? Picture perfect! As if that wasn't enough, Bootlegger's Distillery is just a really cool name. So if you happen to find yourself near the Smoky Mountains, I highly recommend that you make the drive out to Hartford to visit this distillery.
I know there are other moonshine distilleries in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but this one is my absolute favorite. First of all, the drive here from the Gatlinburg area is really beautiful. But the story of this little distillery is what makes the drive truly worth it. And the moonshine ain't bad either.
Bootlegger's has been distilling moonshine for 16 generations, and is still a family run operation. They're proud of their craft, and they have every reason to be. As they say on their website and will tell you when you visit, they distill every drop of alcohol that they sell. And it shows in their product.
East Tennessee’s natural resources and mild climate, along with generations of refined methodology have perfected one of our nation’s most sacred pastimes. Bootleggers Distillery is very proud to bring this secret collection to you. Remember “If You Only Get One Shot” make it Bootleggers Distillery. ~ Bootlegger's Distillery website
