SAINT LOUIS, MO — Due to COVID-19, all in-person programs and tours are currently suspended, so the Saint Louis Art Museum offers free interactive tours and art-making programs for community groups and organizations.

Community Programs

Youth SmART is a free art education program offered to the youth community in the St. Louis area. The people who attend this event can explore selected works of art from the Museum’s global collection through live and interactive 60-minute virtual programs by Saint Louis Art Museum.

The live virtual programs will be available via ZOOM (or preferred platform) from Tuesdays to Fridays between 10:00 am and 2.30 pm from July 1 – 30, 2021. These programs are planned for a maximum of 30 learners of ages 6 – 12 years. Registration for the event is now open for Live Virtual Summer Youth SmART.

The Virtual Youth SmART offers various themes to choose from, such as Artists and the Outdoors, Amazing Art Materials and Wearable Treasures.

In Artists and the Outdoors, the program explores how nature finds ways into art-making, and often, nature is seen as the source of inspiration for many people.

For the Amazing Art Materials, they wanted kids to focus on the tools and materials use to produce art, from common art materials like paint and uncommon ones like bottle caps or stones and many more.

The last theme on the Wearable Treasures will take participants on a journey around the world by examining art objects from centuries ago that were meant to be worn. The last theme will include an optional art activity, where kits can be requested during registration.

Registration to the event is now open. You can register through this link https://www.slam.org/community-access-programs/virtual-youthsmart-request-form/.

ACCESS Programs

The Saint Louis Art Museum is committed to providing all access for all people to their programs, facilities, collections and exhibitions. They have received the Shine the Light Award presented by Paraquad in 2018. Currently, the in-person community and Access Programs are suspended due to COVID-19.
