Saint Louis Art Museum Library and Archives reopens on June 15

SAINT LOUIS, MO — Starting Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the St. Louis Art Museum Library and Archives are open to the public every Tuesday to Friday. Patrons of the MOBIUS member library, including St. Louis County Library, are allowed to request library materials through their home libraries.

The Richardson Memorial Library is a museum library that holds resources that keep the museum’s history, enrich its identity and inform its collections and programs. The museum library also contains records of the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the Museum’s art collections and exhibitions which includes nearly 46,000 auction catalogs.

Specifically, the Richardson Memorial Library preserves and provides an expensive collection of books, journals and catalogs. It also provides a number of important research databases including Ancestry Library Edition, Anthropology Plus, JSTOR and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global.

Meanwhile, the Museum Archives keeps a historical record of the Saint Louis Art Museum's events, exhibition, and programs. The archive also keeps a historical record of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition and Cass Gilbert’s Palace of Fine Arts, the Museum’s administration and art collection, public engagement and exhibitions.

The St. Louis Artists Files collects and provides information about artists in the St. Louis area. This information is available to the public for research and may contain newspaper clippings, exhibition announcements or other biographical data.

The Museum Library and Archives are open to the public Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm, located on Level 3 of the South Building.
