Yo, I saw rainbows right after the rain.
And I vowed to never ignore these colors again.
As I sat there simple, humbled, and plain.
They painted me thankful to see them again.
Proud of its hue, so boastful, was Blue.
But Yellow was sad cuz her lemons ain’t grew.
And when they saw Green, they envied him too.
For his money made the world spin tighter than glue.
Yes, I saw rainbows right after the rain.
Some of them sweethearts, some of them vain.
Right back-to-back, like carts on a train.
Together in the sky, by the cloud and the plane.
Well, Yellow’s bananas were still a few days away,
And Red had the apples to keep the doctor at bay.
Still, they got together at the end of the day.
And the Orange was so glad they’d come out to play.
Well, I saw rainbows right after the rain.
And I damn near jumped through my window pane.
While the final drops trickled down their last drain,
I vowed never to neglect these colors again.
Sure, Red had roses… but the violets weren’t for Blue.
Cuz Purple wanted in on that action too!
So she walked around all day with something to prove.
Cuz why would Blue say that, if it wasn’t true?
Yo, I saw rainbows right after the rain.
And I vowed never to neglect these colors again.
Right back-to-back, like carts on a train…
They sat there together all one-in-the-same.
