I instantly felt the island spirit as we walked up to the Kuli-Kuli Island Style Fusion food truck in Beaverton, Oregon. They greeted us with an "Aloha," and the energy of that exchange was electric.

From looking over their menu on Yelp, my husband and I were very excited to try out their food.

I love how they have specials as well as their regular menu. Last Saturday, they had a special of "Sprite Shrimp." Yes, that is shrimp cooked with Sprite and other yummy flavorings.

We had fun talking to them about the name of their food cart. One of the owners told us that Kuli-Kuli means "shut up." It was a phrase that his mom often said to them growing up as "Shut up and eat your food" or "Cool it!"

He said that he decided if he ever started a food truck, it would be called Kuli-Kuli. It is the perfect name because we had no time to talk while savoring all of this delicious food!

We ordered the special Sprite Shrimp served with a side of rice and tuna macaroni salad. I loved the freshness of the shrimp stir-fried with the sauce, onions, peanuts, and more!

Another dish we tried was the Mochiko Chicken. These are small chicken pieces coated in rice flour and fried to perfection. They tasted so good with the dipping sauces of siracha mayonnaise and a soy sauce dip.

For our son, we ordered the hamburger steak. It has sauteed mushrooms and onions on top. We ordered the gravy on the side that turned out to be perfect. It comes with a side of rice and macaroni salad.

Our son loved the hamburger steak! He made two meals of it, one steak for lunch and the other for dinner. Such a great value! He fell in love with the flavors and can't wait to get that dish again.

It is a big bonus for us since he is usually picky about Hawaiian food. We feel so lucky that we found this food truck we can all enjoy together.

The last dish we enjoyed was the chow fun noodles with chicken and vegetables. I love how light and tasty this dish was. It is the perfect spring or summer dish to enjoy. Full of fresh flavor!

We also got a lemon iced tea and a strawberry soda to go with our meals. They were bright and refreshing.

Kuli-Kuli is located right across the street from Home Depot and near Target off of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. I love how you can park at Home Depot and walk across the street to pick up some lunch.

I invite you to let the island spirit into your life by trying out the delicious food offered at Kuli-Kuli. You will come there as a stranger and leave as a friend! Enjoy their regular menu items and be on the lookout on Facebook and Instagram for their specials!
