If you love bagels for breakfast and as a lunch sandwich, you are in for a treat! There is something new coming soon!
I love to stalk Yelp for new food finds. Just the other day, I came upon a new bagel shop.
This shop is a small local chain originating from British Columbia. It is called Rosemary Rocksalt. Currently, there is a location in Richmond, BC, and Vancouver, BC.
Sometime shortly, a Rosemary Rocksalt location will open in North Plains, Oregon, close to Hillsboro. When I saw the placeholder Yelp entry for this place, I got very excited!
I am a bagel connoisseur, and I have been waiting for a more authentic bagel place to open near my home. I love freshly baked, chewy bagels that are crispy on the outside.
My favorites tend to be the savory ones with onions, garlic, and seeds on top. They are delicious plain or with cream cheese slathered on top.
Rosemary Rocksalt is a unique bagel shop. They boil their bagels in honey water and bake them in a stone, open-flame oven, much like artisan pizzas.
They do not use any preservatives, and their bagels are baked fresh throughout the day. I am getting very excited about opening day for this place.
Their flavors include rocksalt, plain, poppyseed, sesame, everything, cinnamon, and rainbow. You can order any of these toasted with plain or flavored cream cheese, vegan cashew cream cheese, butter, or cheddar cheese.
They also offer a bagel made from potato and rice flour. It is perfect for those trying to reduce gluten in their diet- however, it is not 100% gluten-free as it contains 1% malt barley flour.
Their flavored cream cheese offerings are varied and look delicious. I love that they offer traditional cream cheese as well as a vegan version made from cashews.
Traditional flavors include Garden Veggie, Dill, Smoked Salmon, Honey Almond, Spinach & Feta, and Classic.
Vegan cashew cream cheese flavors are Death by Garlic, Sour Cream & Onion, Jalapeño Cheddar.
They also serve three different bagel breakfast sandwiches all day long. Breakfast is my favorite meal, so that works perfectly for me!
Admittedly, I am very excited about their rainbow bagels. I have seen photos of them from other shops far away, but I have never gotten to eat one. Mostly, it would be fun to take a picture of it for a memory.
Some delightful side dishes on offer include potato wedges, cauliflower bites, soup, hashbrowns, and more.
Their two regular soup options are roasted tomato and garlic and vegan carrot coconut ginger. There is something very comforting about a lovely hot bowl of soup and a bagel sandwich.
When you add a side dish to your bagel sandwich, you receive a free drink. That is a great deal!
You can even create your bagel spread at home by taking home bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, Montreal smoked meat and more.
Delightful lunch options include everything from a veggie lite sandwich to smoked salmon with capers- or Montreal smoked meat delights.
What I love most about Rosemary Rocksalt is that they are very invested in donating to their community. They support several organizations in Canada, and I expect they will do the same in Oregon.
On their home page, it states: "We believe in donating excess bagels to great causes." That is a fantastic way to be part of a community.
I will keep watching this Yelp page and the website to see when they will open. I hope to be the first one at their soft opening. I will come back with a full report and photos of my experience.
I invite you to get excited about this new place coming to town. North Plains is very close to Hillsboro, and it is a delight to have something new in our neighborhood.
