How to Become A Magical Family: Powerful Ways to Invite More Magic into Your Life

And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.

It all started on a Disney Alaska cruise. A few years ago, we went on a cruise with our son, my sister-in-law Abby, and some friends of ours from California.

We had never taken a cruise before, but our friends encouraged us to join them, and so we did! It is one of the most beautiful experiences we have had in our lives.

Before we boarded the ship, we spent a couple of days in Vancouver, British Colombia. We had fun exploring this beautiful city, enjoying the sunshine and all of its culinary delights.

We felt like a magical family from the very first moment we boarded the ship. The crew stands to either side of you, and as you step into the main cabin, they clap and announce your family. It feels as if you are entering the grand ballroom of olden times.

Everything around us was glittering and shining with a special glow. We had embarked upon an adventure. We felt as if we were royalty, as smiles from everyone surrounded us.

As the cruise went on, we were in awe of everything. The food, the entertainment, and the service were all exceptional. It was as if as soon as we made a wish, it appeared.

We went around smiling, thanking everyone for everything. We left extra tips for our housekeeper, who always left us unbelievable towel animal creations.

Something we could not fathom was that people would complain about anything on this trip. However, all day, every day, we heard complaints. They were always about small details.

My husband and I kept wondering why people would find fault with anything on this vacation. What I have learned is that the more you complain, the worse it gets. Sure enough, the people that kept griping continued to have issues.

Meanwhile, we chose to delight in all of the magic this cruise had to offer. My son was in heaven because all of his favorite food was placed right by the pool. He said it was the best!

One of the best things that happened to us during our cruise was an unexpected change in our itinerary. At first, we had chosen to go on a dog sled adventure. However, due to weather concerns, they were unable to host the event.

Instead of complaining, we happily chose another activity at that port. We chose a helicopter ride to the top of a glacier. It turned out to the highlight of our whole experience.

At first, I was nervous about riding in a helicopter. I had never done it before. I am deathly afraid of heights. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how safe I felt during our flight. I spent lots of time taking photos of the beautiful scenery.

It was like being on another planet to walk on top of the glacier. The ice is a mesmerizing turquoise blue. Our pilot gave us special boots to wear so that we could grip the ice. We saw amazing views from this vantage point.

I am so grateful that we all got to experience walking on a glacier. I highly recommend it to anyone. Our helicopter pilot was very talented and took us to see lots of scenery, like goats on the hills and the surrounding areas.

Because we chose to remain positive and find the good in our situation, we enjoyed the benefits of the adventure of a lifetime. Had we complained or moaned about it the whole time, it would have changed our experience.

The story leads me to how we became a magical family. Before this trip, we mused about how much fun it would be to get a certificate for being good guests. We love to travel, and we always try to be the most gracious travelers.

We believe that what you put out into the universe comes back to you. That is why we focus on remaining positive as much as we can.

Much to our delight and surprise, we got our certificate during our cruise! We were awarded: Magical Family of the Week. In our vacation scrapbook, we have our certificates and prizes. What a thrill!

Here are three ways that you can become a magical family wherever you choose to go:

Be Solution Oriented:

Instead of complaining, look for a possible solution to your issue. There is always someone there to help you. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Know that everything is working out for you. It may look like a problem now, but you may be presented with an even better solution if you slow down to think about it.

Try to think of three options when a problem is in front of you. This gets you into solution-oriented thinking. You can brainstorm your list on paper, then choose the option that feels best to you. You will be surprised by what is in store for you!

Thank Everyone Who Helps You:

There are so many people around us every day who are here to help. Whenever we receive help or service in any way, it is so important to thank the person.

Even now, in pandemic times (when wearing a mask), you can give a friendly wave or a thumbs-up signal to show them that you appreciate their service. This can be done wherever someone helps you.

Be Generous With Tips and Encouragement:

My husband and I have a rule that we always tip people the top percentage available, or more. Everywhere we go, we give as much as we can. This shows the world that we believe in the goodness of people.

If money is an issue, thank you cards are also welcome. People rarely receive the thanks or encouragement that they deserve on a regular basis. Taking a moment to acknowledge them works wonders.

My wish is that these tips and this story help you to become a magical person, or magical family wherever you may roam.
