Brian Boyd, 26, has been arrested for the hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of popular actress Lisa Banes.
According to reports, the 65-year-old actress while on her way to meet her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, was hit on June 4th by a red and black motorbike having no plate. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury. Ten days after intensive medical treatment, Banes was pronounced dead.
Police said they received an emergency call to the scene at around 6.30 pm local time (11.30pm BST) where they found a "65-year-old female pedestrian lying on the roadway with severe head trauma".
Boyd was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, the New York Police Department confirmed.
According to police officials, the suspect resides in the same street where the deadly collision happened.
Banes' manager, David Williams, after confirming her dismissal, described her as a "woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends". "We were blessed to have had her in our lives", he added.
Banes was known for her appearance, in films such as Gone Girl, Cocktail, and Pumpkin, famously performed on Broadway in Neil Simon's Rumors, High Society, Accent on Youth and Present Laughter.
She also featured in films such as Freedom Writers, A Cure for Wellness, Young Guns, and as well as roles in TV shows like Roseanne, Six Feet Under, Desperate Housewives and Nashville.
