Ortona South / Ortona Lock Campground is one of our absolute favorite campgrounds!  It is a basic campground without trails, hikes or many amenities, but the view of the canal, lock and surrounding farmland is fantastic!  Join us as we share what this Corp of Engineers campground on the Caloosahatchee Canal / Lake Okeechobee boat canal has to offer!

Georgia State

Georgia has so many amazing State Parks with Mistletoe State Park on Clarks Hill Lake being another campground favorite!  With over 90 water & power sites, some waterfront and many huge, there is a site for everyone here.  The park offers cabins, walk in sites and 15 miles of trails. Ochoco Divide Campground / A Campground Favorite

Welcome to beautiful Tyee Recreation Area in gorgeous and green Oregon!  This campground is set along the Umpqua River, northwest of Sutherlin (not to be confused with Tyee Campground in the Oregon Dunes).  Tyee Recreation Area is BLM land and the sites must be reserved online at recreation.gov - simple to do! Tyee Recreation Area / Umpqua River / A Campground Favorite

Fall camping in Maine?  Poland Spring RV & Tent Campground in Poland Spring, Maine is a campground favorite & great for families!  There are not a lot of campground options in Maine - most of the RV & tent campgrounds we found were privately owned and on the expensive site.  Poland Spring Campground offers tent and RV parking, hook-ups, pond / lake access and a lot more!  We camped at Poland Spring in the fall - join us as we share what this pretty private park has to offer!

Wisconsin State

Birch Grove Campground & Recreation Area in Washburn is a campground favorite for us!  This RV & tent campground is set between two small lakes and offers boat launches at both lakes.  Birch Grove is a first-come, first-served campground with no reservations and is gorgeous!  We found wild blueberries along the forest service roads and were surrounded by wildflowers.  It is all dry camping, but does have garbage service, pit toilets and a hand pump for water.  Join us as we share what this beautiful campground and recreation area has to offer!

Join us on a Miccosukee Indian Airboat Tour in Florida's amazing Everglades!  This has been on my bucket list for years.  My friend Mark (who has lived in Florida for 20+ years) prefers the Miccosukee tours over the more touristy tours on the South side of the Tamiami Trails - more water, less people, more personable and down to earth.  We saw loads of alligators, baby alligators and even got to hold a baby one!

Gopher tortoises can be found in Georgia, Southern South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi & Eastern Louisiana.  The are known for burrowing and their burrows are used by many other species for shelter.  They are herbivores and can live for over 40 years.  Join us for five interesting facts about these tortoises.  We saw this one at Crooked River State Park!

Griffin Park, West of Grants Pass is a RV & tent campground favorite!  The campground is set alongside The Rogue River, with easy access to the water.  The Rogue flows slowly along this stretch, so is perfect for swimming, cooling off and in our case letting our dog bite the water.  This campground was a perfect stay during the August heat as our site had full hook-ups.  And with river access, it added to the perfect stay. Welcome to Pine Meadows Campground on the shore of Cottage Grove Reservoir. This family oriented, beautiful, lakeside, green campground is an Army Corp of Engineers campground and offers over 90 sites to choose from!  There is a swimming beach, lifejacket loaners, playground, as well as a dump station, restrooms & showers.  Pine Meadows Campground is a family campground favorite - join us as we share what this pretty lake front campground has to offer!

Welcome to Susan Creek Recreation Area Campground, a beautiful, green and riverside campground along Oregon's Highway of Waterfalls!  We had been to four of the most popular waterfalls a few years back - Clearwater Falls, Whitehorse Falls, Watson Falls & Toketee Falls and wanted to return to what I called Waterfall Row and explore a little more.  Susan Creek Campground is also very close to Susan Creek Falls - a hike you can do right from the campground!  Join us as we share what this super clean and gorgeous campground has to offer and a visit to a Susan Creek Waterfall, Clearwater Falls, Toketee redwood water pipe / power generator and Steamboat Falls - all along The Highway of Waterfalls in Oregon! Welcome to Las Cienegas National Conservation Area / Empire Ranch.  There are 3 designated camping areas within this conservation area - Maternity Wells (a group camping site right off the road), Airport (by Empire Ranch Headquarters) and the one we selected  Cieneguita Camping Area!  Join us as we share what this dispersed RV camping area has to offer - it is dry camping, pack in & pack out, but some sites do have a firepit (more on that...).  The views all around, the quiet, the lack of people and the night sky - all incredible.  As with any area, please pack out and leave it better than you found it. Pancho Villa State Park in Southern New Mexico is full of history and beautiful desert landscaping!  We loved our stay in this clean and quiet State Park in Columbus, New Mexico.  The Visitor Center is amazing - as well as the campground - beautiful, long pull-through sites with incredible views and awesome landscaping.  And the right price!  We had water & power for less than $20 a night.  Join us as we share what this New Mexico State Park has to offer - US / Mexican history, a view of the border and a nice, clean camping experience!

Day Trip Ideas Lake Fausse Pointe State Park / Avery Island Home of Tabasco / New Iberia 

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in Louisiana is a campground favorite!  We had a very cool bayou front site with our own deck over the bayou.  The park has hiking trails, cabins for rent, bayous to explore, a splash pad for the kids, launch ramp and wildlife.  The park has 6000 acres of wetlands, bayous, canals & islands.  The town of New Iberia - James Lee Burke's childhood summer home and location for settings of his novels is close enough for a visit, as well as Avery Island - home of Tabasco! Minnesota State

We found a fantastic little tent and RV campground in Minnesota!  Join us as we share what Boy Scout Point in the small city of Northome has to offer.  The campground is set alongside Bartlett Lake, offers about 15 sites, electric sites, water and a dump station!  We visited this campground in July of 2022 and had the place to ourselves.  Boy Scout Point is absolutely a campground favorite!  If you are looking for a nice campground near Northome, check out this great little city park - we found this campground on Campendium, which is my go-to starting place to find great camping sites and recreation areas!

Rancho Notso Grande is a U-Pick Berry Farm - famous for their blueberries, strawberries, tayberries, red raspberries, blackberries & John's berry and fruit wine - Peach Chardonnay, Blueberry wine, Raspberry wine and more.  John will give his Harvest Hosts guests a golf cart tour of this farm and will help visitors select and pick the best berries.  This was a wonderful stop and stay at Rancho Notso Grande!

Join us for a look at Ortona Lock on the Okeechobee Waterway.  Approximately 9500 boats, both commercial and recreational transit this canal every year.  The lock is 250' long and 50' wide and operates from 7 am to 5 pm 365 days a year.  Access for viewing the lock activities on the South side is from Ortona Lock Campground.
