The results have been revealed and the poorest city in Tennessee is Memphis with a poverty rate of 22.6% making it the 24th poorest city in the nation.

With a population of 633,104 as of the 2020 census, Memphis is the second most populous city in Tennessee after Nashville and the fifth-most populous city in the Southeast.

Like most urban areas in the United States, the city continues to struggle with barriers to prosperity including higher-than-average crime rates, failing public school systems, and a lack of high-paying job opportunities.
