The winner for the state of Connecticut is the stunning Cathedral Pines Reserve in Cornwall.

Located in the northwestern corner of Litchfield County, the Cathedral Pines are New England's largest collection of old-growth white pine and hemlock trees before they were nearly devastated by three tornadoes that struck in the summer of 1989.

The remaining white pines are approximately 120 feet high and 5 to 6 feet in diameter.

If you're looking for a quiet, less trafficked hiking trail to visit this fall, make it this one. The peak at the top of the Mohawk trail makes for some stunning fall foliage views.
