A newly released list of the poorest communities in the country has been released from the online finance site known as Insider Monkey.
They have analyzed recent census data including the poverty rate, median household income, and unemployment rate in order to create a list of the poorest cities in each of the 50 states.
The results have been revealed and the poorest city in Arkansas is Jonesboro with a poverty rate of 22.6% making it the 25th poorest city in the nation.
Jonesboro is a city located on Crowley's Ridge in the northeastern corner of Arkansas. As of 2023, the city had a population of 81,969 making it the fifth-largest city in Arkansas.
Incomes tend to rise with educational attainment levels and in the Jonesboro area, only 28.7% of adults 25 and older have a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 35.0% of all Americans in the same age group.
