Founded in 1982, the Southern Michigan Railroad has been one of the best and most beautiful scenic train rides in the state of Michigan for the past 40 years. The railroad is a nonprofit, volunteer railroad and museum that operates out of the town of Clinton in Lenawee County.

Available year-round, these train rides provide a totally different experience depending on which season you decide to ride. During the spring and summer time, travelers will get to enjoy bold blue skies and waters. The train even operates a Polar Express ride in the wintertime.

During the fall, the scenery along the tracks lights up in yellow, red, and orange as the foliage takes over. This is one of the prettiest times to experience the Southern Michigan Railroad. Their Fall Color Tour departs from downtown Tecumseh for a 2-hour train ride through Michigan’s beautiful fall colors. Halfway through the trip, you'll be able to enjoy a cup of delicious, locally made apple cider at their Clinton Station.

The train line also operates a Clinton Fall Festival train ride in September and an Appleumpkin Train in October for an hour-long excursion to the Red Mill Pond. The perfect chance to enjoy the scenery and relax away from the crowds of the festival.
