Healthy, Glowing, Skin in the Winter Months

by Amanda Jane Snyder

Who else has drying, itching skin come winter?!

Not only is my skin itchy and flaky, but my face doesn't have the same glow!

Well that's if I don't take care it anyway.

PLUS, most skincare products are actually toxic and filled with parabens and carcinogens. It's not only important to take care of our skin aesthetically and physically, but it's important for the long haul of our health and wellness. If we talk about HEALTHY, glowing skin, we need to address toxins as well.

Here is my skincare routine for healthy, glowing, skin in the winter months. All products are vegan and cruelty free.

For the Body:

1. Snow Fairy Body Conditioner

To keep my body moist and plump and supple, I first use a body conditioner in the shower.

Lush has an incredible body conditioner that leaves me feeling silky and smooth after the shower and it smells heavenly!

I look at this product as a preparation for mositurizer. I mean, who doesn't want to "envelop skin in a softening hug"?!

2. Shea Moisture Daily Hydration Body Lotion

I've never felt more hydrated after applying this mositerizer. There's literally nothing better.

Before Shea Moisture my elbows and knees were always rough and crackly. After? Smooth like butter! Vegan butter that is! ;)

The smell of this lotion is heavenly too. I feel like I'm cracking open a fresh coconut and lathering it all over my body. Ummmm YES PLEASE!

This can be purchased at any drug store like CVS, Duane Reade, or Target.

For the Face:

1. FRE Skincare Purify Me

This Hydrating Facial Cleanser has been my saving grace for years. It's creamy but also includes jojoba beads to gently exfoliate and clarify the skin.

2. 100% Pure Fermented Rice Hydrating Toner

One of my all time favorite non-toxic brands hits the nail on the head again with this Fermented Rice Hydrating Toner. It's rich in enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, to leave your skin soft, nourished, and ready to soak up mositure. I look at toner as the first step to prepare your skin for hydration.

3. 100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream

This award winning eye cream does not disappoint. Especially in the time of corona virus where we're all quarantined and gazing into screens more, taking care of the skin around our eyes is of utmost importance. The Coffee Bean Eye Cream depuffs, and brightens. Not to mention it smells like a fresh chocolately brew (anyone else addicted to the smell of coffee?)!

4. FRE Skincare Glow Me

This hydrating facial moisturizer not only protects me from the sun with 15SPF but it is also tinted, leaving my skin with a natural enough glow for no makeup needed.

5. Physician's Grade CBD Facial Revive Drops

This CBD Facial Glow Oil not only reduces inflammation or redness but it also is the secret to leaving skin glowing bright. It truly leaves an after glow that no winter wind can take away! I believe in the power of CBD in many aspects, and I've found that using it in my skincare is no different. This oil can be found online or at department stores such as Nordstroms or Bloomingdales.

6. FRE Hydrating Glow Mist

This is the mist that seals the mositure deal! I've tried plenty of facial mists and have been confused as to why facial mists even exist UNTIL I started using this one. It is unique in that it has two layers in its formula. According to FRE Skincare, "the first layer contains argan and grapeseed oil for deep hydration, while the second layer contains radish, pea and watermelon extract as well as rose and ylang ylang essential oils to soothe and refresh". Whatever their formula is... it's working!
