No matter how many times we tell people to not judge a book by its cover, people will still have their prejudices about your appearance and clothes. Superficial stuff like these could cause you a client or a deal. It’s best to present yourself as a professional when meeting mobile home buyers and sellers so that they’ll know you are serious. Here are some tips on how to do just that.
1. Wear business casual
A Polo shirt with clean jeans or slacks -- is the best way to go. Business casual allows you to look respectful while keeping you comfortable at the same tie. This conveys the message that you are responsible and serious, as well as trustworthy and approachable.
Most of your clients will be blue- and white-collar workers. Wearing business casual allows you to be seen as an equal to them and more relatable.
2. Trust and Responsibility
It is important to present yourself as trustworthy and responsible. This might determine if the buyer or seller will trust you with their money. Additionally, trust helps you to build honest communication with your client and that could put them at ease when making deals with you. With that, avoid looking like royalty, thug, or deadbeat slob so that you won’t unknowingly raise a wall between you and the client.
3. Show Confidence
Confidence is one of the most influential outfits you can wear. It does not necessarily mean that you are 100% confident deep inside; sometimes you can fake confidence and your body will follow suit. A significant number of buyers or sellers will be unsure of their decisions, and your confidence will comfort them and lessen their anxiety. This will be a great opportunity to educate them on the choices they have and you can make a win-win offer to them. Confidence, fake or not, will make you look like you know what you are doing.
4. Clarity
It is important to have a clear understanding of the processes that occur during a deal. Before the meeting, Imagine all the possible scenarios that could happen during the meet-up with the buyer or seller. The buyer or seller will see that you know what you are doing and they will trust you with the offers you will give them.
If there are things you are uncertain of, it is best to ask a seasoned investor about this before meeting the buyer or seller.
5. Come to the field with tools
It is common to meet buyers or sellers in the mobile homes they are selling or you are buying. Arriving at the meeting with the tools needed to inspect a mobile home or start the documentation of the deal will show that you are always prepared.
When choosing what to wear and how to present yourself, always think of what the clients want to see as well as what you are comfortable with. Although what you wear and the way you act won’t ultimately matter when it comes to the mobile home’s quality and the deal itself, but it certainly won’t hurt to dress to impress.
